Punjab Cabinet approves filling 106 Clerk Cadre positions at secretariat
In a recent meeting of the Punjab Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann at the Punjab Civil Secretariat in Chandigarh, several important decisions were made.
The cabinet approved a mechanism to expedite the construction of medical colleges in Mohali, Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur, Malerkotla, and Sangrur. This move is expected to enhance healthcare facilities in the state.
Clerk cadre recruitment approved
The cabinet also gave the green light to fill 106 clerk cadre positions in the Department of General Administration at the secretariat. This decision aims to improve the efficiency of the Punjab Civil Secretariat's operations.
The Department of Legal and Legislative Affairs (Group B) Service Rules for 2023 were approved by the cabinet, ensuring a structured framework for legal and legislative matters.

To enhance health services for livestock owners, the cabinet extended the services of 481 veterinary pharmacists working in 582 veterinary hospitals across the state as service providers for a year, from April 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024.
Animal health services restructured
The government merged 582 civil veterinary hospitals and the posts of rural veterinary officers with the management of the Zila Parishad under the Rural Development and Panchayats Department. This change aims to streamline animal health services through the Department of Animal Husbandry.
The cabinet approved the case of five prisoners for the premature release of life convicts in state jails and rejected four other such cases. These cases will now be submitted to the Punjab governor for consideration.

The cabinet reviewed a decision to restructure the Department of Printing and Stationery, which is expected to reduce the financial burden on the state exchequer by eliminating surplus posts.
