Punjab Congress President Rejects Alliance with AAP Amidst Political Speculations

The possibility of an alliance between the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab has been dismissed by Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring. He firmly stated that he would quit politics if any Congress leader became a minister in the AAP government in Punjab. Warring's response came after Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar created confusion by suggesting such an alliance. Despite being part of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) at the national level, Warring emphasized that there was no question of forming an alliance with AAP in Punjab.

Jakhar's Statements Create Confusion

The confusion regarding the possibility of a Congress-AAP alliance in Punjab arose from the statements made by Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar. He suggested that one of the Congress leaders could become a minister in the AAP government, which was met with strong opposition from Amrinder Singh Raja Warring. Warring accused Jakhar of spreading false rumors and demanded an apology, although he acknowledged that Jakhar would not quit politics.

Concerns Over Democracy and Opposition Against BJP

Amrinder Singh Raja Warring highlighted the importance of opposing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the national level. He stated that 26 like-minded parties have come together in the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) to save democracy from potential threats. Warring expressed concerns that if BJP returned to power, democracy in the country would be endangered, leading to a rule similar to that of Russia and China, with the possibility of no future elections.

No Discussion on Alliance with AAP in Punjab

While acknowledging the existence of INDIA, Warring clarified that there was no intention of forming an alliance with AAP in Punjab. He pointed out that some of the alliance partners in INDIA contested against each other in states like Kerala, West Bengal, and Punjab due to differing issues and demands. In Punjab, the fight was directly with AAP, ruling out any discussion about an alliance with them. Reports in the media about seat-sharing were also dismissed, and Warring invited those mentioned in the reports to verify if any such meetings took place with senior leaders like Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, or Arvind Kejriwal.
