Punjab Elections: EC has rescheduled the polling date

Punjab assembly elections will now be held on February 20 instead of February 14, as previously announced by the Election Commission of India. In consideration of Ravidas Jayanti on February 16, several political parties petitioned the EC to postpone the polls. Thousands of Guru Ravidas’ devotees are expected to travel to Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, to mark the occasion, according to the political parties. As a result, they persuaded the EC to postpone the elections till after Ravidas Jayanti, a few days later.

Punjab will vote in a single phase only and the results of all the five elections will be announced on March 10.
