Punjab Minister Cheema leads meeting to tackle drug crisis in Tarn Taran

Punjab’s Finance Minister, Harpal Singh Cheema, held a meeting in Tarn Taran to discuss ways to fight the drug problem in the district. The meeting included police officials, government officers, and community leaders. Cheema, who is also the head of a special committee working to stop drug trafficking, focused on making Tarn Taran the first drug-free district in Punjab.
He stressed the importance of community participation in the campaign called Yudh Nashian Virudh (War Against Drugs). He checked on the progress of drug de-addiction programs and asked the administration to strengthen these efforts. Cheema also suggested using sports, cultural activities, and education to keep young people away from drugs.
Actions against drug traffickers
Cheema instructed the police to take strong action against drug sellers. He also said that the assets earned through drug-related activities should be taken away from criminals.
Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar talked about the importance of public awareness and mentioned successful anti-drug campaigns in his area. Meanwhile, MLA Manjinder Singh Lalpura shared that 80 villages in his constituency had passed resolutions to stop the sale of drugs in their communities.
