Punjab Speaker appeals to Gadkari for Kotkapura village underpass
Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan met with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari to discuss the issue of accidents at Tehna village in the Kotkapura constituency of Faridkot. Sandhwan raised concerns about the frequent accidents occurring at this location, primarily due to heavy vehicle traffic from Faridkot and neighboring villages.
Assurance of prompt action
During the meeting, Sandhwan urged the Union minister to consider the construction of an underpass at Tehna village to address the safety issues and prevent further mishaps. Nitin Gadkari assured the speaker that he would expedite the resolution of this issue by ordering the construction of the underpass. Written approval for this project is expected to be issued soon.
Sandhwan emphasized that the proposed underpass would not only mitigate traffic problems but also significantly reduce the risk of accidents in the area. He also called on individuals to drive responsibly to contribute to road safety.
Toll-free roads in Punjab
In addition to discussing the underpass project, Sandhwan informed the minister that the Punjab government has made approximately a dozen roads toll-free within the state. This initiative has benefited daily commuters by saving them substantial amounts of money.
During the meeting, Sandhwan also engaged in detailed discussions regarding various road projects in Punjab. He expressed hope for their timely completion, reflecting the importance of infrastructure development and road safety in the region.
