Raghav Chadha of AAP takes bungalow allocation dispute to Delhi HC
AAP's Raghav Chadha challenges Trial Court over Bungalow Allocation in Delhi HC
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Raghav Chadha has taken his battle over the allocation of a Delhi bungalow to the Delhi High Court, challenging a trial court's decision. Chadha had received an interim order allowing him to stay in a government bungalow, but the trial court later vacated this order, permitting the Rajya Sabha Secretariat to begin eviction proceedings against him. His counsel informed the court that eviction proceedings are indeed underway.
The case was urgently mentioned for a hearing before a bench comprising Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Sanjeev Narula, and the High Court has agreed to list it for a hearing on Wednesday.

Origin of the dispute
This legal dispute began when Chadha was allocated a Type 6 bungalow in July of the previous year. Subsequently, he requested a larger Type 7 accommodation, which was allotted to him in September of the same year. However, in March, the allotment was canceled by the secretariat, arguing that a first-time MP like Chadha was not entitled to such a grade of bungalow. Chadha then began residing at the bungalow with his parents after renovating it.

Chadha has strongly criticized the cancellation of his bungalow allotment, calling it "arbitrary and unprecedented." He alleged that it was orchestrated by the BJP to further their political agenda and interests. Chadha emphasized that such actions have never occurred in the history of the Rajya Sabha, where a sitting member is removed from their duly allotted accommodation.
The legal battle over the bungalow allocation highlights the ongoing political and legal disputes in India's political landscape.
