In a thrilling match lasting 65 minutes at the KD Jadhav Indoor stadium, Indian shuttlers Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty faced a tough defeat against world champions Kang Min Hyuk and Seo Sang Jae. The final scores were 21-15, 11-21, 18-21 in favor of the Korean pair, marking the Indian duo's second consecutive runners-up finish at the India Open.

Competitive history:

Despite boasting a 4-1 head-to-head advantage in their five previous encounters, Satwik and Chirag always found matches against the Korean opponents challenging. The recent defeat follows their runner-up finish at the Malaysia Super 1000 last week.

In the opening game, the Indian pair displayed remarkable skills with breathtaking rallies and relentless hitting. Chirag's excellent net interceptions helped them secure the first game 21-15, showcasing their prowess on the court.

Spirited comeback and defeat:

However, the Korean duo made a strong comeback in the second game, dominating with a 21-11 score. In a closely contested decider, the Indians fought hard but ultimately succumbed to a 18-21 defeat, allowing Kang and Seo to claim the title.
The India Open also saw Tai Tzu Ying securing the women's singles title, and Shi Yu Qi reclaiming the men's singles crown. In the mixed doubles category, Thailand's Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Sapsiree Taerattanachai emerged victorious, while Japan's Mayu Matsumoto and Wakana Nagahara clinched the women's doubles title.
