Reid Hoffman may leave US after Trump win

LinkedIn Co-Founder Reid Hoffman weighs leaving US following Trump victory

Reid Hoffman, the co-founder of LinkedIn, is thinking about leaving the United States after Donald Trump's victory in the recent elections. Hoffman, a well-known billionaire venture capitalist, has been an outspoken critic of Trump and supported Democratic candidates. His decision is partly based on his fear that Trump could use his power to retaliate against political opponents.

Hoffman's involvement in the lawsuit against Trump

Hoffman had financially supported a defamation lawsuit filed by former New York magazine writer E. Jean Carroll against Trump. Carroll had accused Trump of sexually abusing her in 1996. A jury found Trump guilty of the abuse and ordered him to pay $5 million in damages to Carroll. Later, Trump was also ordered to pay an additional $83.3 million for defaming Carroll when he denied the accusations, claiming she was lying. Hoffman’s role in financing the lawsuit and his political donations to the Democratic Party have made him a target of Trump’s supporters, contributing to his fears about the future under a Trump-led administration.
