Sansad TV's YouTube account hacked, restored two hours later

Hackers gained access to Sansad TV's YouTube account early Tuesday morning, which broadcasts live and recorded sessions from the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. According to a tweet provided by Prasar Bharti, the channel's name has also been changed to Ethereum.

The tweet, which included a statement from Sansad TV, also claimed that the television's personnel "promptly worked on it" and "restored" the YouTube channel two hours later.

“Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (Cert-In), the nodal agency for responding to cyber security incidents in India, has also reported the above incident and alerted Sansad TV. However, later on, YouTube has started fixing the security threats permanently and it shall be restored ASAP,”  a tweet shahid by Prasar Bharti.

In a press statement, it says, "Sansad TV's social media team promptly worked on it and got the channel restored by early morning at around 3.45 am, including live streaming on this Channel. Also, the Channel name has been changed to "Ethereum" by the attacker. However, Sansad TV's Social Media Team promptly worked on it and got the Sansad TV Channel restored by early morning at around 0345 hours."

However, as late as 10 a.m., a search of the TV channel's YouTube account revealed that it had been "terminated" by the platform "for violating YouTube's Community Guidelines."

So far, no comment has been received from Google, which controls YouTube.

The YouTube account later displayed a 404 error message with the statement "This page isn't available." Sorry about that. "Try searching for something else."

YouTube's community guidelines spell out "what type of content isn't allowed" on the platform, and they apply to all kinds of content, including videos, comments on videos, links, and thumbnails.

According to the platform, these restrictions are enforced equally for all users by "using a combination of  human reviewers and machine learning."

The platform’s community guidelines say, “Our policies aim to make YouTube a safer community while still giving creators the freedom to share a broad range of experiences and perspectives.”

YouTube suspends the playback of a video or terminates an account for a variety of reasons, including spam and deceptive tactics, sensitive content, fake engagement, child safety, impersonation, nudity, sexual content, suicide, self-injury, and vulgar language.
