SBI home loan official charged with Bribery case: CBI

In Amravati, Maharashtra, the Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a senior executive from the State Bank of India's home loan department for accepting a bribe in exchange for sanctioning a home loan for a person.

A case was filed against a Home Loan Sales Executive, SBI CAP Securities, Home Loan Division of SBI, Amravati, and an ally (allegedly working with ICICI Bank, Gadge Nagar Branch, Amravati in the capacity of a private person) on allegations of insisting a bribe of Rs 20,000, according to a press release issued by the investigating agency.

Officials also arrested Amar Khade, who works as a home loan sales executive for SBI's Home Loan Division, and his accused partner Nikhil (who is suspected of working for ICICI Bank).

According to the CBI, an Amravati resident took out a Rs 12 lakh home loan from Equitas Small Finance Bank in Amravati and sought Nikhil for the loan account to be transferred to ICICI Bank's Gadge Branch.

Instead of ICICI Bank, Nikhil allegedly advised the complainant to transfer the loan account to SBI's Camp branch.

The complainant requested a loan transfer and an SBI top-up loan.

Amar and Nikhil allegedly arranged for the house loan account to be transferred and the top-up loan to be released, according to the lawsuit.

The agency said in a statement, "The accused allegedly visited the complainant's house and sought an illegal gratification of Rs 20,000 from the complainant for the favors. The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant as part payment,"

Amar and Nikhil have also been charged with seeking payment of Rs 20,000 by the CBI. Officials also conducted searches at the accused's residence.

The CBI would present the accused to a designated court in Maharashtra's Amravati for custody in this case.

The CBI set a trap for the accused and nabbed him while asking and taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant. On the accused's property, searches were carried out.
