Security Forces kill two Terrorists, including 'Foreigner,' in Anantnag

Jammu and Kashmir: 'Foreigner' among two Terrorists killed in Anantnag encounter with security forces

Two terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir, on Saturday. The clash took place near Halkan Gali in the Shangus-Larnoo area. Among the two terrorists, one was identified as a foreigner while the other was a local. Officials are still determining their group affiliations. The operation is ongoing, and more details are expected soon.

Other Security operations

In addition to the Anantnag encounter, another firefight is happening in the Khanyar area of Srinagar. So far, there have been no reported casualties from either side. The Kashmir Zone Police stated that a cordon and search operation had led to exchanges of fire in the area. Previously, security forces also encountered terrorists in Bandipora district on Friday.

The recent surge in violence includes a terror attack on two labourers from Uttar Pradesh in Budgam, where they were shot and injured. This incident marks the fifth attack in the Kashmir valley since a new government took office last month, raising concerns among local leaders about the rising violence post-elections. 

Local leaders, including Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and National Conference president Farooq Abdullah, condemned the attacks, emphasizing the need for safety in the region. The situation remains tense as security forces continue their operations to track down remaining threats.
