Sehwag supports Congress candidate in Tosham election campaign
Virender Sehwag endorses Congress candidate for Haryana Elections in Tosham
In the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections, former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag is backing Congress candidate Anirudh Chaudhary in the Tosham constituency. Sehwag urges voters to support Chaudhary, whom he considers like a brother. He highlights the importance of this election for Chaudhary, whose father, Ranbir Singh Mahendra, was a former president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and had supported Sehwag during his cricket career.
A family affair in Tosham
Tosham is a politically significant area for the Bansi Lal family, with deep-rooted political connections. Anirudh Chaudhary, 48, is the son of former BCCI president Ranbir Mahendra and the grandson of four-time Haryana chief minister Bansi Lal. He faces tough competition from his cousin, Shruti Choudhry, who is running for the BJP. This rivalry adds to the tension in a constituency that has long been a stronghold for the Bansi Lal family.

Anirudh Chaudhary expresses confidence that Congress will win, criticizing the current BJP government for failing to address issues faced by farmers. He points out the serious water crisis in the area and claims that development has stalled under the current administration. Alongside Sehwag, Chaudhary emphasizes the need to solve these pressing issues for the betterment of the community.
The caste demographics of Tosham show that Jats make up about 33% of the population, with other communities like Brahmins, Rajputs, and Scheduled Castes also represented. The political landscape in this constituency is heavily influenced by these demographics, making the upcoming elections crucial for both candidates.
Sehwag's endorsement adds a new dynamic to the race, and the outcome will depend on how voters respond to the candidates' promises and their family legacies.
