Sift's thrilling success: double triumph over Chinese Shooters on their home ground

Triumphant victory for Sift as they beat Chinese Shooters on home turf twice

In a spectacular 12-month journey, Sift Kaur Samra has solidified her position as India's premier rifle three positions shooter. The past year witnessed her clinching an Asian Games gold with a world record score, securing a Paris Olympics quota place, and successfully defending her national title. At just 22 years old, Samra faces the challenge of maintaining her Olympic quota by winning selection trials in May, followed by preparing for the pressure-packed Paris Olympics.

Samra's winning momentum extends to both international and domestic competitions, with a mindset focused on approaching each match with the same seriousness. She emphasizes the importance of preparation and handling pressure, acknowledging that big matches come with expectations.

Thriving on International Stages

Notably, Samra's triumph at the Asian Games involved overcoming early jitters and beating the world champion, Qiongyue Zhang of China, with a commanding lead. She secured a world record with a score of 469.6. Additionally, she achieved victory at the World University Games in Chengdu, China, where she and Ashi Chouksey secured gold and silver, defeating Chinese shooters on their home turf.

She earned gold at the Junior World Cup in Suhl and showcased her talent in the competitive domestic scene by winning national and National Games titles. This season, she began with a bronze at the Bhopal World Cup, securing India's quota for the Paris Olympics.

Looking ahead with determination

Despite a challenging schedule with upcoming trials, Samra remains undeterred, expressing gratitude for the "golden girl" title and savoring the fruits of her hard work. Her aim is to continue enjoying the moment while striving for further success.
