The Indian sports ministry has invested significantly in athletes preparing for the Paris 2024 Olympics. This investment aims to boost their performance and increase India's medal tally. Here’s a breakdown of the investments:
Key Athletes and investments
- Neeraj Chopra: The javelin throw champion has received ₹5.72 crore. He trains in Patiala and Europe.
- Indian Men’s Hockey Team: They got ₹41.81 crore after their bronze win in Tokyo.
- Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty: The badminton men’s doubles duo received ₹5.62 crore.
- PV Sindhu: The badminton star received ₹3.13 crore, aiming for gold after winning silver and bronze in previous Olympics.
- Mirabai Chanu: Despite injury challenges, she received ₹2.74 crore for weightlifting.
- Manu Bhaker: The shooter received ₹1.68 crore, hoping to improve from her Tokyo performance.
- Sift Kaur Samra: She got ₹1.63 crore after winning gold at the Asian Games.
