The United States Embassy in India recently made a noteworthy announcement, revealing that they have issued an extraordinary number of student visas during this summer season, surpassing 90,000 in total. This achievement marks a historic milestone in the educational exchange between India and the United States.

Record-breaking visa issuance

The US embassy in India expressed its elation on social media platform X, highlighting that they issued a record number of student visas throughout the months of June, July, and August. This summer, nearly one in every four student visas globally was granted to Indian students. The embassy extended its congratulations and best wishes to the aspiring scholars who have chosen the United States as their destination for higher education. Their collaborative efforts ensured that all qualified applicants reached their programs on time.

Expected achievement

This remarkable feat aligns with the projection made by the US Mission at the start of this year's student visa application process. Brendan Mullarkey, the acting minister counsellor for consular affairs in India, emphasized that the previous year had seen a record-breaking issuance of 125,000 student visas to Indian students, surpassing any other nationality. Now, with over 90,000 student visas issued during the summer months, the United States is poised to set a new record.
