Allegations and accusations
The victim, in her testimony, accused Sudhir Kumar Pandey, the in-charge of the Jhanghai Police outpost, of sexually assaulting her on September 21. Pandey, a sub-inspector stationed at Sarai Mamrej Police Station, has been charged under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 376 (rape), 120B (criminal conspiracy), and under the SC/ST (Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes) Act based on the woman's complaint. It's worth noting that Pandey is currently on the run.

Background and harassment
According to police sources, the woman had been facing harassment and death threats from some individuals. In an attempt to seek help, she had gone to the Jhanghai Police outpost and shared her grievances with Pandey. On the evening of September 21, Pandey allegedly summoned her to the police outpost under the pretext of taking action against the culprits. Instead, he drove her in a car and, under the influence of sedatives hidden in a cold drink, committed the alleged rape while she was unconscious.
Official investigation
In response to the serious allegations, Police Commissioner Ramit Sharma has instructed Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sudhir Kumar from Handia to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. The investigation aims to uncover the truth and ensure justice is served.
