Surat Diamond Bourse inauguration by PM Modi marks global milestone

PM Modi inaugurates 'Surat Diamond Bourse,' setting the stage for the world's largest workspace

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to unveil the 'Surat Diamond Bourse,' recognized as the world's largest corporate office hub, showcasing the dynamism and growth of Surat's diamond industry. Built on 35.54 acres of land at a cost of ₹3400 crore, the Bourse is poised to become a global center for rough and polished diamond trading.

Key highlights of Surat Diamond Bourse:

1. Global Diamond Trading Hub: The Surat Diamond Bourse boasts over 67 lakh square feet of floor area, making it the world's largest office complex. Located in Khajod village near Surat city, it is designed to serve as a pivotal hub for trade, innovation, and collaboration in the diamond industry.

2. Unprecedented scale: The building, exceeding the size of the Pentagon in the United States, comprises more than 4,500 interconnected offices. This colossal structure positions itself as the largest customs clearance house in the country.

3. Employment opportunities: With a capacity to accommodate 4,200 traders from 175 countries, the Surat Diamond Bourse is expected to generate employment for approximately 1.5 lakh people. It provides a global platform for diamond buyers worldwide to engage in polished diamond trade in Surat.

Apart from the diamond hub, Prime Minister Modi will also inaugurate the newly-upgraded terminal building of Surat airport, reinforcing the city's connectivity and infrastructure.
