KCR says PM Narendra Modi should sack Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

Telangana CM targets Himanta Biswa over remark made to Rahul Gandhi

On Saturday, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) demanded that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma be removed from office for his remarks against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

Himanta Biswa Sarma slammed Rahul Gandhi for demanding proof of the September 2016 surgical strike and doubting the efficiency of anti-Covid vaccines during a rally in poll-bound Uttarakhand on Friday.

The Chief Minister of Assam also asked whether the BJP had ever demanded any proof of Rahul Gandhi being the “son of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi”.

The Telangana state minister asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief JP Nadda to remove Assam’s chief minister during a public rally in Raigiri. “You sack him. I am demanding… Can a Chief Minister talk like this? There are limits. Are you egoistic? Doing tamasha? You think people will remain silent,” said KCR.

“Is it BJP’s culture? Is it Hindu Dharma and Indian culture? I am demanding as an Indian. I feel ashamed. This is not good for the country. Do you think we will keep quiet with folded hands?,” he further asked.

Himanta Biswa hits back

The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, reacted to KCR’s demand for his removal and said, “He (Telangana CM KCR) got agitated by my comment on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi but not by Gandhi’s comment on our Army. This mindset that you can’t criticize the Gandhi family needs to be changed.
