In the ICC Men’s T20I Team for 2021, there is no Indian player
The ICC Men’s T20I Team of the Year has been announced
On Wednesday, Pakistan’s Babar Azam was selected captain of the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Men’s T20 side for the year 2021. However, Indian fans are dissatisfied because no Indian player has been selected for the team. Aside from Babar, two other Pakistani players who reached the T20 World Cup semi-finals last year have been named to the ICC T20 team. The ICC announced that Pakistani players dominated the Men’s T20 team. Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Afridi, in addition to Babar Azam, have also been named to the squad.
Mohammad Rizwan was selected as the opener. Rizwan, the wicket-keeper batter, had a remarkable year last year, scoring a record 1326 runs in 29 matches. Rizwan struck at an average of 73.66 and a strike-rate of 134.89. With 939 runs, Babar Azam ranked second on the list. In 2021, the Pakistan captain was at his classiest in the shortest format, finishing as the tournament’s highest run-scorer at the T20 World Cup. Babar scored 939 runs at an average of 37.56 in 29 matches, with one century and nine half-centuries. His captaincy was also praised as he led his team to the T20 World Cup semi-finals in the UAE and Oman. Shaheen Shah Afridi took 23 wickets in 21 matches at an average of 26.04 and an economy of 7.86, extracting superb movement with the new ball and reversing it with the old.
ICC has chosen Jos Buttler as Rizwan’s opening partner in the lineup, while Aiden Markram of South Africa has been kept at No. 4 batting. As middle-order batters, David Miller and Tabrez Shamsi have been added to the lineup. Wanindu Hasaranga of Sri Lanka and Mustafizur Rahman of Bangladesh have both been named to the ICC Men’s T20 XI for 2021.
