Kang on Channi: These people took votes of poor people, did nothing for them in return, but built their own palaces
Channi is doing politics of appeasement, vigilance is taking action against corruption, it's not based on any community or religion: AAP spokesperson
Kang's dig on Channi: which poor person has assets worth 10 crores?
Using SC community as vote bank has always been mentality of Congress, in reality they never did anything to uplift them: Kang
Chandigarh, April 15: Slamming the Congress and their former chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said that Channi is doing politics of appeasement but he's not going to get any benefit out of it, because the people of Punjab know the truth and has already rejected him.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, AAP Punjab chief spokesperson Malwinder Singh Kang said that Channi was not only the chief minister but before that he was leader of opposition, cabinet minister and president of Kharar municipal corporation. But, now when vigilance is going to question him about his corruption he is playing the card of a poor person. Taking a dig Kang asked Channi that which poor person spend months in foreign, get treatment from America and hold 5 star marriage functions of his son.
Kang said that the Mann government's movement against corruption is going on for a year now and actions against so many corrupt leaders and officers have been taken. Vigilance is taking action against corrupt people and their action is not to target any community or religion. Kang said that this is the mentality of Congress only because they've used poor people of country for the votes for 70 years now. Channi, who mentioned his property worth 10 crores during Punjab assembly elections of 2022, is not poor.
Kang said that on the holy occasion of Baisakhi and Ambedkar jayanti, Channi's drama about him being poor and belonging to SC community was condemnable. He said that it is opposite of the teaching of Guru Sahib who taught us equality and the constitution of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar who ensured equal rights and opportunities for everyone. Kang said that these people took votes of poor people and then did nothing for them but thanks to their corruption they're millionaire now and own palaces.
Kang said that if Channi was actually an empathiser of SC community then why didn't he take any action against leaders and officers responsible for SC scholarship scam. Why did not Channi promoted even a single person of SC community out of his constituency Chamkaur Sahib.
Kang added that only the Aam Aadmi Party and our national convenor Arvind Kejriwal is following the ideology of Bhagat Singh and Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar. Dr Ambedkar inspired us to uplift the downtrodden people of our society and we are building school of Eminence for the children of poor families. Reforming the government schools so that the students belonging to poor families can get quality education and become officers. He asked, what Channi did for these people as MLA, as minister and as the chief minister of Punjab? Now he's playing these cards to gain the sympathy of people but people are already aware of everything. Kang said being in power Channi never spared a thought for the poor or SC community but now he's talking about sikhi, Guru Sahib's philosophy and Ambedkar.
He said that on the one hand AAP government is taking steps to propagate the teachings of Shri Guru Ravidas ji through study centre and on the other hand Channi's name is associated with the likes of Praveen Kumar who is facing allegations related to illegal colonies and corruption. Kang said that Congress has always targeted for the votes of poor people to forward their political agenda.
AAP leader said that Badal used to say he is leader of farmers and today see the condition of farmers. Captain used to play his army card and being the CM he used to have journalist of Pakistan defence service at his home as guest. And now Channi who is crorepati is playing the 'gareeb' card.
