Tourists advocate improved amenities and promotion of Chandigarh's key attractions

As Chandigarh celebrates Tourism Week, the city's visitors offer valuable insights into improving the tourism experience. Chandigarh, renowned for its modern architecture and attractions like the Capitol Complex and Rock Garden, drew diverse opinions from tourists, shedding light on areas of potential enhancement.
While exploring the city's iconic landmarks, tourists voiced a range of opinions. Some emphasized the importance of prioritizing fundamentals, such as better maintenance of these landmarks, ensuring their pristine condition. For instance, Preeti, a first-time visitor from Fatehabad, highlighted the need for improved cleanliness in restrooms and more comprehensive information about the Capitol Complex on the city's website.

Seema Bamb, a visitor from Pune, pointed out the absence of proper signage near tourist spots and suggested introducing battery-operated cars for senior citizens to ease their mobility during longer walks.

Appreciation for architectural marvels

On the other hand, tourists like Brenda Hennessey from the United Kingdom praised Chandigarh's unique architecture, particularly highlighting the Capitol Complex and Rock Garden as standout attractions.

Chandigarh's tourism initiatives

In response to these valuable insights, UT tourism director Rohit Gupta affirmed their commitment to upgrading tourism infrastructure. This includes improving signage, establishing help desks at key entry points like the airport and railway station, and ensuring the availability of essential amenities such as clean restrooms.

Chandigarh's Tourism Week, celebrated from September 22 to 27, featured a diverse range of activities for tourists to enjoy. The city's prominent tourist destinations include the Capitol Complex in Sector 1, Rock Garden, Sukhna Lake, Bird Park, Indian Air Force Heritage Centre, and the Government Museum and Art Gallery. These initiatives reflect Chandigarh's dedication to offering an enriching and memorable experience to all its visitors.
