Former President Donald Trump returned to Butler, Pennsylvania, for a second rally on October 5, 2024, with increased security. This came after a previous assassination attempt in the same area by 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, who tried to shoot Trump at a rally three months earlier. To ensure safety, the event had strict security measures, including bulletproof glass in front of Trump and his running mate JD Vance. Around 50,000 to 60,000 people attended, and the building from which the shot was fired last time was covered with trucks and fences.

Enhanced security measures in place
The rally had a significant security presence, including snipers on nearby rooftops, drones for aerial surveillance, and officers guarding the perimeter. The seating arrangements were also changed for safety reasons. Corey Comperatore, a firefighter who died in the previous rally attack, was honored with a display of his jacket surrounded by flowers. Butler County officials assured the public that they were confident the event would be safe, with coordination between multiple agencies and stronger communication systems in place.
