Uncertainty surrounds Rahul Dravid's coaching tenure

Rahul Dravid keeps fans guessing: 'I haven't signed anything as yet...'

After the BCCI extended Rahul Dravid's coaching tenure with the Indian cricket team, the head coach added suspense by not revealing the duration of his new contract. In a recent interaction in Delhi, Dravid stated he hasn't officially signed any documents, leaving questions around the length of his extension. Speculations suggest he might continue until the T20 World Cup in 2024.

Dravid's return and upcoming assignments

With VVS Laxman leading the T20I squad against Australia, Dravid is set to resume his role for India's all-format tour of South Africa starting December 10. This series marks the beginning of his extended stint. Following the South Africa tour, India will host England for a five-Test series from January to mid-March. Dravid will then receive a break during the IPL's 17th season.

Future challenges and decision factors

Dravid's coaching journey might extend to the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA in June, followed by a tour to Australia later in the year. While the BCCI expresses eagerness for Dravid's continued tenure, the decision hinges on Dravid's personal preference. Since taking up coaching, Dravid has been actively involved, initially with Under-19 and A teams, then as the director at the National Cricket Academy. His coaching role commenced in 2021 after being persuaded by Sourav Ganguly, his former India teammate and BCCI president.
