People of UP need a new political system says Priyanka Gandhi

"Unnati Vidhan Jan Ghoshna Patra-2022" INC issues UP manifesto

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said on Wednesday that the Congress will erase all farm loans within 10 days of forming a new government, as she released the party’s (third) manifesto 'Unnati Vidhan Jan Ghoshna Patra-2022', for the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly election, which begins tomorrow with voting in the western districts.

“We have released three manifestos – for women, for youth, and today the general one. Everything is based on suggestions from the public. We talked to one lakh people… including common people, labourers, farmers and people of all classes. This is a public manifesto,” Priyanka Gandhi said.

“Jobs and inflation are the biggest issues. Just like Chhattisgarh, Farmers' loans will be waived as soon as our government is formed. Paddy and wheat will be purchased at Rs 2500 per quintal, while sugarcane will be purchased at Rs 400 per quintal,” she stated.

Given the concerns expressed by UP farmers to whom the Yogi Adityanath government has yet to deliver long-overdue payments, the reference to paddy and sugarcane purchases is significant.

Farmers’ electricity bills would be halved, payments for Covid-affected periods will be cancelled, and farmers who lost crops will be compensated with Rs 3,000.

She also mentioned the terrible attempted suicide of a debt-ridden shoe trader in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, one of the towns voting tomorrow, who accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of “not (being) a well-wisher of small traders and farmers” before ingesting a poisonous substance.

This is quite unfortunate, but similar scenes can be found throughout Uttar Pradesh… small businesses are targeted, and the government offers no assistance,” Priyanka Gandhi Vadra stated. She also criticized the centre and the Union Budget for making “great promises for big companies” but delivering nothing to small traders.

“In the public sector, including police, healthcare, and education, a massive backlog of 12 lakh vacancies will be filled. Aside from that, an additional eight lakh employment would be created “She also promised Rs 25,000 in cash support to households severely impacted by the Covid pandemic.

In December and January, Congress released manifestos for women and youth, respectively. While the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Samajwadi Party (Samajwadi Party) both released manifestos yesterday, both made several similar promises to voters, including job development and free electricity for farmers.

The Assembly elections are scheduled to kick off on February 10 with the first phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh.
