UP government approves hike in daily allowance for PRD personnel
The Uttar Pradesh government has announced good news for Prantiya Rakshak Dal (PRD) personnel. Their daily allowance has been increased from ₹395 to ₹500. This decision was approved in the state cabinet meeting held on Tuesday, which was chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
This increase in allowance will benefit about 34,092 PRD jawans across the state. The move is expected to help improve their financial condition and shows the government’s effort to strengthen auxiliary security forces. These PRD personnel support police and administration in maintaining peace and order in the state.
The increased allowance is effective from April 1, 2025. Based on 30 days of duty, each PRD jawan will now get ₹3,150 more per month. This step will cost the state government ₹75.87 crore more every year.
The government hopes that this change will encourage the PRD jawans and recognise their role in public safety.
Infrastructure, education and health projects
Along with the PRD hike, the cabinet also approved several other key proposals during the meeting.
One such major decision was the approval for the construction of an interchange at the crossing near Jaganpur-Afzalpur, where the Yamuna Expressway meets the Eastern Peripheral Expressway. The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) will handle the design and construction work. NHAI will also manage the toll plaza that will be set up at the interchange.
The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) will keep ownership of the land. The chief minister has been authorised to make further decisions about the interchange’s construction as needed.
The cabinet also approved free transfer of land for new healthcare and education institutions.
In Ayodhya, the government will transfer 12,798 square metres of nazul land (government-owned land) that earlier belonged to the old Sitapur Eye Hospital. This land will be given to the Medical, Health, and Family Welfare Department for building a 300-bed hospital.
Another decision involved giving 371.74 square metres of land in Brahmkund, Ayodhya, to the Disability Empowerment Officer. This land will be used to build a Bachpan Daycare Centre for hearing, visually impaired, and mentally challenged children aged 3 to 7 years.
In Hathras, the cabinet approved the transfer of 6.675 hectares of land for a new medical college. The land was earlier with the Dugdh Utpadan Sahkari Sangh Limited (Milk Cooperative Society) in Sasni, Hathras. Now it will go to the Medical Education Department at the same price it was originally bought for back in 1987.

Other major cabinet approvals
The cabinet also passed the Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya Rules 2025. These rules will apply in both Hindi and English. The university is known for music and fine arts education.
In addition, the state cabinet has allowed the purchase of a Toyota Camry Hybrid for the Governor’s official fleet. The vehicle will replace an older car that has been condemned and is no longer usable.
In the housing sector, the government approved a proposal to let urban local bodies collect house tax, water tax, and other charges from housing projects that are part of hi-tech township schemes. This includes townships approved under:
-
Integrated Township Policy 2014
-
Integrated Township Policy 2025
-
Uttar Pradesh Township Policy 2023
The cabinet decision aims to make urban local bodies financially stronger and improve civic services in such projects.
In total, the cabinet decisions made during this meeting are aimed at improving the working conditions of PRD jawans, boosting infrastructure development, and strengthening the health and education sectors in Uttar Pradesh.
From improving daily wages for support forces to approving medical and daycare facilities in Ayodhya and a medical college in Hathras, the state government is focused on better public welfare. It is also promoting better connectivity through new road infrastructure and is taking steps to ensure sustainable transportation, like adding a hybrid vehicle to the Governor's fleet.
The announcement is expected to bring relief and new opportunities to thousands of citizens across the state.
