Uttar Pradesh secures air ambulances, choppers for Lok Sabha Poll emergencies

In preparation for the Lok Sabha elections, the Uttar Pradesh government has secured the services of air ambulances and helicopters from a Gurugram-based private aviation company to provide emergency assistance. These aircraft will play a vital role in responding swiftly to any unforeseen medical or security emergencies during the electoral process.

Air Ambulances and Helicopters deployment schedule

The deployment plan involves strategically stationing helicopters and air ambulances across various regions of Uttar Pradesh during different phases of the Lok Sabha polls:

- First Phase (April 19): Helicopters will be stationed in Moradabad, while air ambulances will be positioned in Bareilly.
  
- Second Phase (April 26): Helicopters will be deployed in Aligarh on April 25 and 26, with air ambulances stationed in Meerut on April 26.
  
- Third Phase (May 7):
 Helicopters will be located in Agra on May 6 and 7, while air ambulances will be deployed in Bareilly on May 7.
  
- Fourth Phase (May 13): Helicopters will operate in Kanpur on May 12 and 13, and air ambulances will be positioned in Lucknow on May 13.

Additionally, in the subsequent phases:

- Fifth Phase (May 20): Helicopters will be deployed in Jhansi, and air ambulances will operate in Lucknow.
  
- Sixth Phase: Helicopters will be stationed in Ayodhya, and air ambulances will be based in Prayagraj.
  
- Seventh Phase (June 1): Helicopters will operate in Gorakhpur, while air ambulances will be positioned in Varanasi.

Purpose and financial details

Apart from providing medical aid during emergencies, these helicopters and air ambulances will facilitate the swift transportation of security forces as required. The arrangement ensures prompt assistance to any part of the state affected by emergencies.

The lease agreement for these aircraft entails a minimum usage of two hours per day at a cost of ₹5.60 lakh, totaling ₹39.20 lakh for the entire deployment. The financial approval for this expenditure has been sanctioned by the state government.
