Vigilance bureau nabs ASI for taking bribe Rs 10,000
Chandigarh February 25 : The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its anti-corruption campaign on Saturday, nabbed an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Balwinder Singh, posted in police station, Sandour in Malerkotla district for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.
Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the VB said the above said police official has been arrested on the complainant of Mohammad Sadiqe, resident of Noor Basti, Malerkotla city.
Giving details he added that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the above said police official has demanded Rs 10,000 as a bribe to cancel a police case already registered against him and his family members in the police station.
The spokesperson informed that a VB team from economic offences wing of Ludhiana range has laid a trap and the accused police official has been arrested on the spot while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
In this regard a case under prevention of corruption act has been registered against the accused ASI at VB police station Ludhiana. Further investigation in this case was under progress.
