Water tank heroically saves Nalinakshan from Kerala in Kuwait fire
A fire in a seven-story building in Mangaf, Ahmadi Governorate, Kuwait, has claimed the lives of 49 foreign workers, including around 40 Indians. The blaze broke out around 4 AM on Wednesday while most of the 195 migrant workers were asleep. The fire started in the kitchen and quickly spread through the building, trapping many residents.
Among the deceased are 24 Malayalis from Kerala, as confirmed by NORKA Roots. This tragedy has left a deep impact on the Indian community, especially in Kerala. The news of the fire reached the families of the victims by late Wednesday morning, adding to their grief and shock.
Nalinakshan's narrow escape
One of the survivors, Nalinakshan from Kasargod district in Kerala, shared his harrowing experience. Having been in Kuwait for over a decade, he never imagined he would face such a life-threatening situation. On the brink of being engulfed by flames, Nalinakshan remembered a water tank below and decided to jump. This quick decision saved his life, but he sustained injuries in the process.
Nalinakshan was trapped on the third floor when the fire broke out. After jumping into the water tank, he couldn't move and was found by relatives who rushed him to the hospital. His uncle, Balakrishnan, mentioned that although Nalinakshan has mouth injuries and is unable to speak much, he is receiving good medical care. Surgery is planned for his injuries.
The impact of the jump caused significant injuries to his lower body, and he lost consciousness before reaching the hospital. Despite his ordeal, Nalinakshan's escape offers a glimmer of relief amidst the tragedy.
