Michelle Obama responds to divorce rumors

Michelle Obama breaks silence on divorce rumors, mentions Barack in statement

Michelle Obama addressed the rumors about her marriage to former President Barack Obama. She shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, in which she spoke about her husband's and her commitment to honor Hadiya Pendleton's memory.

Honoring Hadiya Pendleton

In the Instagram post, Michelle announced that The Obama Presidential Center would be opening a memorial garden in honor of Hadiya Pendleton. Pendleton, a talented student, tragically lost her life in 2013. She had performed at Barack Obama's second inauguration just days before her death. Michelle shared that she carried Hadiya’s story with her wherever she went, and they both looked forward to celebrating her life through this special recognition.

Michelle’s message was shared with a focus on her relationship with Barack, calling him “my husband.” This was particularly important as there had been ongoing rumors about their marriage. The speculations started when Michelle announced that she would not attend President Donald Trump’s swearing-in ceremony, although Barack did.

Michelle’s recent absences

Michelle Obama has recently kept a lower public profile. She missed important events, including the swearing-in ceremony and President Jimmy Carter’s funeral. She explained that she had a "scheduling conflict" while spending time in Hawaii. The death of her mother, Marian Robinson, in May also deeply affected Michelle, leading her to step back from the public eye.

During the Democratic National Convention in August, Michelle shared her grief over her mother’s loss. She explained how it almost stopped her from speaking at the event, but despite this, she still supported former Vice President Kamala Harris during her presidential campaign.
