Wrestler Nisha Dahiya chases Olympic glory
Wrestler Nisha Dahiya pursues Olympic Medal dream
Nisha Dahiya, a wrestler aiming for Olympic glory in the 68kg category, has faced numerous challenges on her path to the Paris Olympics. Last year, she endured a severe injury during Asian Games trials, leaving her unable to eat solid food for a week due to a fractured collarbone. Despite setbacks like a two-year doping ban and mistaken identity issues, she persevered.
A dream realized
Nisha secured her spot for the Paris Olympics at the World Qualifiers in May after a determined comeback from injuries and setbacks. Her journey began a decade ago when she took up wrestling to avoid academics, inspired by Sakshi Malik's success. Her uncle's words after watching Sakshi win silver at the 2014 Commonwealth Games fueled her dream of winning medals herself.

Looking ahead
With bronze at the 2021 U-23 World Championships and a silver at the Asian Championships, Nisha aims to add an Olympic medal to her achievements. Her resilience through injuries and setbacks reflects her determination to succeed on the world stage. As she gears up for Paris, Nisha remains focused on her goal, inspired by her journey and the support of her mentors.
